Ride London
For many years (with a break for Covid), there has been a Sunday allocated where some roads in Central London are closed to vehicles and given over to bikes The first one, as I recall, was in 2008 and then called FreeCycle. It was sponsored by Sky. It morphed into Ride London in 2013 and combined with other cycling events. I have probably been on every one and, for two, did much longer rides - one out into Essex and one through and out to the West of London (with Dave).
This year, it has coincided with the Jubilee, which meant the route was somewhat curtailed as The Mall and Birdcage Walk were closed. The weather was decidedly cool with some sun and no rain. From the flat, I can cycle into the City avoiding any traffic. There are two ways of doing that - the quick way, along (segregated) Cycleway C2 or the scenic way which is along the River Lea and then, more-or less, following the Thames to the Tower. This time I went via the latter and came home on the former.
I met with Lee at Trafalgar Square and we both met with Michael and Joy at St Paul's. A super day out.
