Ukraine Spirit of Resistance concert
You will know by now that I have empathy for Ukraine so, it was a privilege to go to their concert in Winscombe.
I found it a moving experience. Despite being old, I am not as old as some of you(!) and, therefore, haven't been exposed to war. This really connected me, and it is horrible. I thought the children, mostly, looked sad.
These women and children have been landed in our country - a country about which I am increasingly embarrassed - and it is, in my opinion, necessary to do anything we can for them and to make the Ukrainians welcome.
Being a pessimist about anything much to do the with the future of the World in which we live, I am confident that, eventually, Putin will destroy Ukraine one way or another. Please prove me wrong.
I have requested that Shelagh go and shoot him but, for some reason so far, she has failed. I live in hope!
The concert was a mixture of Ukraine craft fashion and music narrated (from the pulpit) by Olya Rnic, a Ukrainian Philologist. Yes, I had to look it up too! What with my earsight i couldn't hear a lot of what she said but I could tell some of it was harrowing as well as optimistic and joyous.
