A trip on the minibus. Another excellent visit.
Us old crocks looked at lots of old flying crocks. Behind is a replica of the first aircraft to attempt to take off from a ship (barge) in Britain. It didn't work and the pilot was rescued by the Clevedon lifeboat.
A very moving talk by the man i/c the helicopter on HMS Antelope when she was sunk in the Falklands.
A Westland Lynx - the type of helicopter on HMS Antelope. As it happened, it was flying elsewhere when the ship was sunk.
Helicopters may not be pretty but, my, the Sea King was an amazing bit of kit.
The Sea King was (largely) replaced by the AgustaWestland AW101. They are operational at Yeovilton.
A Swordfish (aka Stringbag). So brave to fly this very slow torpedo bomber. Contributed to the sinking of the Bismark.
I have no idea what anything is in this picture but, in the picture before, I'm pretty sure that is a Seafire, the marine version of the Spitfire.
Concorde 002 (British prototype - 001 was the French prototype). First flew in 1969. I am a bit of a fan of Concorde!
Quite a different nose / cockpit window design on the prototypes.
