Visit to London and Ramsey
When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8th, the Rail Unions withdrew their strike action for the following week so, immediately, I booked an (expensive) ticket to London.
I arrived on Tuesday afternoon, went to Ramsey on Wednesday, primarily, to see Warren and visited central London on Thursday. It was a suitably gloomy day and there was a subdued aura. I went through Parliament Square, looking across at Westminster Hall, into St James's Park, down The Mall to Buckingham Palace, through Green Park and then pedaled home to Stratford. I was very glad to have been and felt the atmosphere. There is nothing like 'real' instead of TV. Even with my failing memory, I should remember this day for a while!
