As mentioned in the eulogy, David was involved with The Ramsey Rural Museum. He loved the Lancaster flypasts we had there.
The 8 of us at the start of ClubD.
Margaret & I first met David & Angela about twenty years ago in Ramsey. David was an RAF friend of Al's (as in Al & Gloria, our next-door-neighbours). Angela was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a bit before Margaret.
In 2012, with Warren & Betty and Patty and Pauline, we created ClubD. Betty had been diagnosed several years before and Patty at the same time as Margaret. Later, probably partially as a result of the shock of the sudden death of Gloria (2011), Al was also diagnosed with Alzheimer's and he joined ClubD.
Angela, Patty, Betty and Margaret all moved into care at one point or another. Al died in 2017, Margaret and I moved to Sandford in 2017, Angela died in 2021and now, David in 2022. Contact with Patty has been lost.
ClubD started as a 'brain' training' group, but rapidly morphed into an 'eating and drinking' group!
We had lots of fun over the years with trips to local agricultural shows, to innumerable pubs and to each other's gardens and conservatories.
Taken in 2014 - possibly at The Cuckoo in Alwalton. Sadly, no picture I can find, includes Al. L to R, David, Angela, Betty, Warren, Pauline, Margaret, Patrick.
David was an absolutely lovely, humorous, kind and knowledgeable man with a huge interest in cooking, eating and drinking and a great friend and a support to us all. We loved him.
This was the quote on his McMillan donation page :- David Michael Morris was a true officer and gentleman - an inspiration and friend to so many.
Below is the stream of his funeral. The eulogies start at 43 minutes in.
