Chopwell Close Arch - Celebration of Restoration
If you haven't already looked at the entry in October 2022, you might want to before looking at this page.
As soon as I knew the date and time of the Celebration (about a week before), I bought some train tickets. Fortunately it was not a strike day.
All in all it was an amazing day and I was so glad I had made the effort to do a day return to London. I have, in the past, tried to get the previous freeholder (East Thames) to take more interest in the arch than occasionally removing the buddleia, but it needed the dedication and application of our resident David (Mills) to get HoLT and L&Q (our current freeholder) involved. Brilliant.
I had no idea that the Duke was coming to do the presentation about his grandmother. This is a video of the Introduction & Presentation. I chatted with all sorts of people form HoLT including the Duke and Jamie Cayzer-Colvin (Chairman and Trustee of the HoLT). Also with our Manager from L&Q, Mehran, and our site manager, Leslie. And, of course, with David.
This is a video of the Reading of the Poems and this is a video of the Ribbon Cutting and Finale.

Below is a variety of pictures and here is a video of the Stonemason at Work (thanks to Jo Oli, a Chopwell Close resident who also contributed to some parts of the other videos and some of the photographs).
