Betty Fearon (1938 - 2023)
It is, with a mixture or joy and sadness, that I mark Betty's death this week. Joy, because her death has been far, far too long coming. She died, as so often with Alzheimer's of being unable to swallow any longer. This is inhumane in a society where we are supposed care about and look after our 'loved ones'. You would absolutely not let this suffering happen to a beloved pet. Why a beloved human? And, sadness, because it is the end of the story for such a lovely person who lightened up all our days within ClubD.
Warren must be absolutely thankful that she is no longer suffering in a care home in which he had no trust. Hopefully, he can now let these difficult memories drift away.
I could tell you all sorts of things about Betty but I will just mention two. She worked in the Post Office in Bridlington (which explained why she got all the maths questions correct in ClubD 'brain training sessions' which, as you know, didn't last long as we found going out on trips and to the pub more exciting!). She travelled the World as an RAF wife and regaled us with stories of the life and parties in the Far East, Mediterranean and Germany. She also got most of the Geography questions correct!
Below, I have gathered together some pictures from the past. Doing so has been a strange and somewhat difficult experience. The most recent was less than six years ago and it just seems impossible to me now how, largely, capable Margaret was then and how I have become used to her current state.

Dear Betty, RIP.
